About SAMSS
In partnership with North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME), the UNC System Office is hosting the first annual Strategic Approach to Military Student Success convening for faculty and staff across the entire UNC system to encourage better understanding and support for our military-affiliated student population. Recognizing that a high percentage of military-affiliated students transfer from a community college to a four-year institution, this training invitation is also being extended to our partners within the North Carolina Community College System. This training is a result of requests made by UNC faculty, staff, and students, as well as the UNC Military Affairs Working Group.
Goals & Outcomes
Faculty, staff, and student leaders will leave with an increased knowledge and understanding of military-affiliated students from a value-based perspective; have a clearer perspective on military culture while being able to dispel negative stereotypes; leave with knowledge on accessible resources that support military student success, and will have actionable outcomes for improvement that can be communicated on their campus.
