These resources and tools are intended to assist the process of applying for, negotiating, accepting, and managing awards related to externally funded sponsored programs and endeavors at the University of North Carolina System.

“Sponsored Programs” refers to scholarly, professional, and creative activities conducted by UNC personnel which are supported by external funds such as grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, etc.

The Office of Sponsored Programs at the UNC System provides a wide range of pre-award and post-award services and resources to the UNC System principle investigators and their staff.  The Office strives to make the contract and grant application process efficient, effective, and user-friendly by providing support from the initial funding inquiry all the way through to the account closeout process. Resources and explanations regarding the grant administration process for the UNC System investigators can be found on this website.

Additionally, the Office of Sponsored Programs at the UNC System supports the coordinated the activities of the Sponsored Programs and Research Council (SPARC), maintains records about UNC Sponsored Programs awards in databases and summary reports, and is involved in various other campus-wide, sponsored programs initiatives, including negotiation and implementation of system-wide master agreements. Information about all these items can be found from the drop down menu here.
