      Colleagues,

As we all continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and its effects, the health and safety of our staff, faculty, and students are of the utmost importance.  We are heartened to hear of the efforts by our Advancement teams across the UNC System to communicate and engage with alumni near and far.  With that in mind, we have created COVID-19 discussion forum for you to share your plans and ideas with colleagues within the UNC System.  Additionally, we will also share ideas from universities outside the UNC System for you to consider.

Thank you for your good work during this tough time for all of us.

      Tim

Zoom has very good documentation on their web site.  They have even added some additional information due to COVID-19:

      https://zoom.us/docs/en-us/covid19.html

Their main support web site is located here:

      https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us

For example, from that site I searched for “meeting settings” and was taken to this page:

      https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005756143-Changing-your-meeting-settings

Their articles are well written and often include other helpful links.

PG Calc is offering free webinar on April 7 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. EST.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our organizations, our donor relationships, and our own lives in ways that were unimaginable only a few weeks ago. Even as we struggle to adapt to social distancing requirements and the CARES Act, circumstances continue to change.

Organizations that are able to retain and strengthen relationships with their donors will be more vital during the crisis and better positioned to thrive afterward. Gift planning is relationship-based, and gift planning professionals are skilled at nurturing relationships and adept at donor engagement.

In this special FREE webinar, PG Calc President, Gary Pforzheimer, and PG Calc Senior Advisor, Craig Wruck, will:

      • present a review of the charitable provisions in the CARES Act
      • provide practical suggestions to accommodate donors and enhance relationships
      • offer marketing strategies to adjust your planned gift program for these changing realities

The CARES Act provisions we will discuss will include:

      • the $300 above-the-line deduction for non-itemizers
      • the 100% AGI limit on cash donations to public charities
      • the waiver of required minimum distributions from most retirement plans
      • the increase in the deduction limit on cash contributions by corporations

The webinar will include 60 minutes of presentation followed by up to 30 minutes of Q&A with Gary and Craig. All registrants will be able to download a PDF of their slides.  Join here.

If you would like to attend but can’t, a recording of the webinar will be available to everyone who registers, whether they attend the live webinar or not.

      Best Practices in Portfolio Management
      Thursday, May 14 | 2:00 p.m. ET
In fundraising, classic prospect research and management is the process of moving a prospect through the life cycle of major gift solicitation cycle, but little is discussed about how portfolio management plays into moving a prospect from identification to solicitation to stewardship. What goes into portfolios has a lot to do with the results that comes out of that portfolio—same idea as junk in, junk out for databases. In this session, we will define and look at how portfolio management practices, such as hygiene, coverage, churn, composition and review, can help make or break the cycle. Leave this session with best practices you can implement in your own organization.

      Going Beyond Wealth Screening
      Wednesday, July 22 | 2:00 p.m. ET
Traditional hard asset screening is a good start for organizations looking to prioritize their prospects. But in the absence of more advanced tools, it too often passes over quality prospects and overestimates the capacity of those who look wealthy on paper. This session will explore how bringing in additional external data points and utilizing advanced analytics can help you obtain a 360-degree view of your constituents, segment them strategically, and engage them with the messaging most likely to convert them into loyal supporters.

Blackbaud is offering a 60-minute session and product tour to learn how Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management can help you.  It will be aired on June 30 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Managing a team of fundraisers, expanding their reach, finding new donors, and increasing contributions—the job is tough!

Advancement leaders are swimming against a strong current. Blackbaud research shows that 53% of assigned prospects are not getting visited and 66% of best prospects may not even be assigned at all. On top of that, on average, a gift officer stays less than 3 years at a job before moving on. Taken together, these factors chip away at your ability to easily hit campaign goals.

Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management™ is designed to make it easier and more predictable to manage fundraisers and use data to hit fundraising goals.

If you are interested in joining Blackbaud for their 60-minute session and product tour to learn how Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management can help you:

      • Identify the right coachable moments to drive gift officer “productivity” as opposed to gift officer “activity”
      • Broaden segmentation beyond donor status to increase renewal, retention and acquisition for annual giving teams
      • Provide frontline fundraisers powerful tools to enable them to make informed decisions and be nimble in execution
      • Set the stage for your next campaign
