System Office Holiday Gathering RSVP
A calendar invitation went out earlier today for the System Office holiday gathering on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at The Dillon. Please accept the invitation if you are able to attend so we can best plan for your attendance.
During the event, we will honor our 2023 Service Awards recipients as well as the recipients of the 2023 President's Awards for Excellence.
2023 Winter Break and System Office Closed Days
Here is a reminder of the days set aside for holidays and closed days during the winter break period at the System Office:
- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Dec. 25-27, will be observed as the System Office’s winter break holidays.
- Thursday and Friday, Dec. 28-29, are System Office Closed Days. On System Office Closed Days, System Office is closed, and employees must use vacation or bonus leave, Personal Observance Leave, or accrued compensatory time if they do not work on those days, or they may elect to work remotely with prior approval from their supervisor.
- Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, will be observed as the System Office New Year's holiday.
2024 Holiday Calendar
The 2024 holiday calendar is available on the HR website. In 2024, UNC System permanent employees will receive 12 paid holidays – 11 scheduled and one floating. In addition to the 12 paid holidays, permanent employees will also receive one day of Personal Observance Leave, which can be used any time during the 2024 calendar year as a day of personal significance, including days of cultural or religious importance. The state's Spring Holiday has been designated as a floating holiday that can be used by employees for any reason during the calendar year. System Office will be open on Friday, March 29, 2024, instead of being closed in observance of the Spring Holiday.

Ronnean Collins
University Benefits Officer, Human Resources
Ronnean was promoted effective Nov. 20 after serving as Insurance Plan Manager in Human Resources. As University Benefits Officer, she will serve as deputy to the Associate Vice President for University Benefits and Retirement and will be responsible for implementing, directing, and planning the day-to day operations of group and insurance benefit programs across the system. Ronnean came to System Office in 2019 after serving as benefits manager at Fayetteville State and has HR experience in financial services as well as the US Army. She has a bachelor’s degree in business from Excelsior College and a master’s degree in human resources from Western Carolina. Ronnean will continue to work a hybrid schedule and can be reached at rdcollins@northcarolina.edu.

System Office Job Openings

Banner Developer 
The Banner Developer will be part of the ERP Technical Support team responsible for designing and delivering high quality, custom applications to various internal customers across a variety of projects at the UNC System Office and constituent institutions, specifically ERP Managed Services clients. The position will provide UNC Banner ERP system-wide integration, implementation, application development, programming, and management services to constituent campuses. This position requires an in-depth understanding of Banner ERP information system and modules, database optimization development, application programming, report writing development, electronic form development and functional expertise with the full array of Banner applications.
Location: Hybrid
Closing Date: Priority consideration given to applications received by 12/6/2023.

2024-25 Presidential Scholars
The Presidential Scholar program is a one-year full time rotational fellowship awarded to three graduates of a UNC System undergraduate baccalaureate program. This program provides a wide range of exposure to the UNC System Office including but not limited to communications, policy, data & analytics, government relations, budgeting, system governance, academic and student affairs. This position is ideal for new professionals who are passionate about making equity-minded change to better serve their communities through a variety of avenues. Scholars will be engaged in operational functions, research higher education topics, serve as support staff to a variety of councils/committees, and provide valuable insight on System Office policy and initiatives.
