UNC System Teacher Preparation Study

HOW WELL PREPARED WERE YOU TO TEACH?

The University of North Carolina (UNC) System wants to better understand how well-prepared new teachers in North Carolina schools are to meet the needs of North Carolina K-12 students. The UNC System is working with the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and Public Impact (PI) to conduct virtual focus groups of new teachers to determine how well-prepared UNC graduates were to teach.

 HOW CAN YOU HELP?

With the help of the NC Department of Public Instruction, AIR and PI are seeking graduates of a UNC educator preparation program in their first, second, or third year of teaching in a North Carolina public school. By participating in a virtual focus group, you provide valuable feedback to UNC, helping it to improve its education preparation program. Any information that you provide during the focus group will be reported to UNC in the aggregate—no individually identifiable information will be reported back to UNC.

Focus groups with beginning teachers will be conducted in October, November and December to gain insights about their teaching experience and preparedness to lead their classrooms and address the educational needs of their students. The focus groups will last 90 minutes. New teachers who participate in a focus group will receive a $25 Amazon gift card.

If you are interested in participating in a virtual focus group, please register by November 20th by completing the brief survey at the link below. It should take only 2-3 minutes of your time. If selected to participate in a focus group, you will receive a confirmation email on or about November 22nd with logistics for joining the focus group.
