Attachment: 2025 SECC Chair Form
Dear Colleagues:
The State Employees’ Combined Campaign, an annual charitable fundraising effort for state agencies and universities, provides assistance to charities and non-profit organizations which provide impactful community engagement opportunities and help the most vulnerable residents of our state. The State is asking for our support again this year as we launch the 2025 campaign; in total, the SECC has raised more than $125 million for charities serving NC residents since its inception in 1984.
The SECC provides our staff and faculty with the following significant benefits:
- Community Engagement & Education – The SECC provides an opportunity for staff and faculty to look beyond their campus boundaries and learn about a wide range of nonprofits that play important roles in improving the quality of life for all North Carolinians.
- Leadership Development – Campaign leaders benefit from a wide range of team building, professional development, and project management experiences.
- Making A Difference Together – This annual campaign provides a convenient, efficient, and trusted way to support charities serving North Carolina residents. Flexible contribution options, including payroll deduction, help staff and faculty budget and pay for their charitable gifts.
President Hans and System Office leadership, as well as the SECC, greatly appreciate your support of this year’s campaign. Here’s what we need from you:
- Appoint a motivated and committed Campaign Chair to oversee the 2025 SECC campaign at your institution. Your chair may also want to establish an Advisory Committee and/or work with a university communications specialist(s) to plan the campaign approach, communications, and events. Select staff and/or faculty who have a strong philanthropic commitment.
- With the Campaign Chair, encourage your Deans and Division Heads to select staff and faculty to serve as school/division leaders (division-level volunteers). Seek volunteers who care about their community.
- Raise awareness throughout your institution that the SECC provides an opportunity to make a difference. Support and thank your employees in their charitable endeavors!
The SECC’s over 700 partner charities work directly to support the most vulnerable among us, promoting disability awareness, combating food insecurity, strengthening community engagement, and addressing many other critical needs. Please help us support our fellow North Carolinians – in some cases, our own staff and faculty – by supporting and providing leadership to your institution’s SECC campaign. With your assistance and your institution’s commitment, we can make the greatest impact for North Carolina and its communities.
Please respond prior to September 29, 2025, by emailing the attachment to Laura Baker, SECC Director, via email at laurabaker@ncsecc.org. For more information on the State Employees’ Combined Campaign, please visit www.ncsecc.org.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated support with this effort.
