We’re exploring ways to enhance how we communicate updates, news, and other important information to CHROs and HR Council members.

The proposals below would take the place of the monthly HR Council phone calls.

We propose creating a regularly scheduled email digest to HR Council rather than sending ad-hoc emails. This would take the place of individual communications to most of the functional listservs we now maintain and give CHROs and HR Council members control over how to communicate these items within their organization. (The Benefits Managers and Benefits Network listservs would continue as they currently exist.)

Some notes about this proposal:

  • This will reduce the number of individual emails to the listserv and allow deadlines and expectations to be prioritized.
  • Timely/urgent messages would continue to be sent on demand.
  • Links to individual updates or action items would be provided for ease of forwarding to campus HR personnel as appropriate.
  • An online archive would be created to store individual messages, allowing easy references to past communications and serving as a reference tool for new HR leaders.
  • CHRO-specific messages will continue to be sent separately and will be stored in a separate online archive accessible by CHROs only.

Another proposed change would bring CHROs together for quarterly in person meetings with each other and System Office staff. These would typically occur in conjunction with broader HR professional development events. At least one of these events each year would include a two-day “retreat” for CHROs and a senior leader/deputy from their team.
