COVID-19 Booster Leave

Pursuant to Governor Cooper’s May 4, 2022 Executive Order #257 (“Establishing an Incentive Program to Encourage State Employees to Receive Their COVID-19 Booster Shot”), President Hans has authorized the chancellors of the UNC constituent institutions, as well as System Office, to provide the COVID-19 booster shot incentive leave program, following the rules provided in the executive order and the corresponding Office of State Human Resources policy.

Booster leave provides eight hours of paid leave for all System Office staff who receive their first COVID-19 booster shot any time before Aug. 31, 2022. This includes probationary, time-limited and permanent employees; part-time employees receive a pro-rated amount of leave. Second booster shots are not eligible for leave. This leave must be used as of March 31, 2023, and cannot be paid out or transferred.

Receiving a booster shot is entirely voluntary and employees are not required to participate in this program.

To be eligible for booster leave, please complete the attestation form below. Falsifying information in this form may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
