The IRIT IT Professional classifications have now been in place for a year. Based on campus feedback during this period, we are proposing a change to education and experience requirements for some classifications requiring higher levels of initial experience. IT Project Managers, for example, tend not to become Project Managers with no practical experience. In addition to working with our IT leadership, we have reviewed similar positions in NC state agencies to establish a higher minimum E&E for the following mid- to late-career classifications:
- IT Architect/Engineer
- IT Client Support Manager
- IT Database Administrator
- IT Manager
- IT Project Manager
Attached you will find a matrix of all IT classifications with the current minimum E&E and, in the case of the above six classifications, the proposed minimum E&E. We would like to hear any questions, concerns, or other feedback you may have. This may require obtaining downstream feedback from your CIOs and other IT stakeholders. Please provide all feedback to me no later than Friday, October 3rd.
If you have any questions or need any additional time please feel free to contact me directly.
