It’s time to wrap up an awesome summer and start making plans to fall into step with this season’s Miles for Wellness walking challenge.
Did you know that exercise is a perfect way to stay healthy and manage stress? The American Psychological Association (APA) says, “…research suggests physical fitness is one way to boost brain health — and that a regular exercise routine can decrease the effects of stress on the body, improve mental health and mood, and even enhance memory and cognition.” You can walk yourself out of a bad mood and into positive energy. So, get those feet to moving to a HAPPIER and HEALTHIER version of you by taking advantage of this resource, Miles for Wellness (M4W) Challenge 26, brought to you by the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and Worksite Wellness!
Miles for Wellness Challenge 26: M4W-26 will run from Monday, Sept. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 20. This season’s theme will be “Brilliant venues of the NFL”! Pull up your walking socks, lace up your tennis shoes, and get ready to have fun walking the path to learning about amazing historical and new NFL sites!
Registration: Registration is now open and runs through the start of the challenge, Monday, Sept. 26. The registration link can be found on the OSHR Miles for Wellness page: https://oshr.nc.gov/miles-wellness-challenge-26. Click on the blue rectangle – ‘Register Now’. And of course it’s free!
Team Leaders: We are always looking for team leaders. Teams are comprised of no more than 10 members but no fewer than five. Start recruiting your team and help improve your and fellow teammates’ wellness this fall! As in previous walking challenges, there will be four walking performance categories based on a team’s total activity level.
Don’t forget, Miles for Wellness can be a perfect team-building opportunity for your department, division, or unit. I look forward to seeing you all on the M4W-26 50-yard line!
