As many of you may be aware, the UNC System Office is implementing a set of organizational changes in response to ongoing budget pressures and evolving federal policies impacting higher education. While the state’s budget negotiations are still in progress, proposed reductions have prompted us to take proactive steps to support long-term operational sustainability. These actions are in alignment with President Hans’s guidance to cap salary and staffing levels across the UNC System.

Beginning today, several System Office divisions have been restructured to streamline administrative functions. This includes a combination of position eliminations, reassignments, and the removal of vacant roles.

Unfortunately, one of the positions that was eliminated was that of Senior Director for Classification and Compensation Keith Dupuis, who you and your teams worked with closely. Raisa Dunton, Kevin Adcock, and Chris Chiron will assume parts of Keith’s responsibilities.

Anne Schwarz will be your point person at System Office for questions. More details will follow soon to ensure continued movement for all class and comp actions, but we appreciate your patience as we work through this transition period.

Please share this update with your teams as needed, and don’t hesitate to reach out to me, Anne Schwarz, or Dr. Thomas Walker if you have questions or need additional context.

Thank you for your continued partnership.
