Dear System Office Colleagues:

The System Office has leased a new home in Raleigh at 223 S West Street in a building called The Dillon. Our new office will span the 17th and 18th floors, the top two, across 52,000 square feet. The building is just a few years old, and the space we have sub-leased is in pristine condition. The total space is roughly the same size as our current Spangler Center (CSLD) building but is laid out in a way that is more usable and will better meet our needs. Located in the warehouse district of Raleigh, The Dillon is surrounded by many walkable restaurants and amenities – parking is inside the building.

We will host a reception for employees on the 18th floor of the new building in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 10, to show everyone the space. Expect more details to come on this. We take possession of the 18th floor on July 15 and the 17th floor on October 1. Our move-in date for most operations will be sometime late in the fall.

A team has already begun planning, and we will provide more regular updates, feedback opportunities, and FAQs as we move forward. Expect those to begin over the next few weeks. We are currently working on move planning and some minor IT updates in the space, along with constructing a main board room.

I am confident this new space meets our needs while complying with the law requiring our move. It is also going to be a fun, engaging, and collaborative place to work.

Update on the Permanent Relocation to Raleigh

The State continues its work to construct a new permanent location for the System Office in downtown Raleigh over the next several years. Their consultants have largely completed a space planning study for that new building. It recommends we have generally the same amount of square footage we currently have and are leasing at The Dillon. As that permanent process unfolds, we will continue to give our full support to the work with the Legislative Services Office, their consultants, and other partners on their work.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or thoughts, and I look forward to seeing everyone in our new home on August 10.
