Round of Applause: Kathy Bryant

Kathy deserves this nomination and much more! It is amazing to see and be part of the end results of her event planning, coordination, and dedication of so many employee-related initiatives at the System Office. She is a ROCK STAR!! Thank you, Kathy, for all that you do for us here at the System Office.

Nominated by Angelisa Riggsbee

Round of Applause: Angelisa Riggsbee

Angelisa is the primary contact between the Purchasing Office and our CFO. Angelisa consistently insures that documents needing the CFO’s signature are appropriately routed, signed, and returned to the Purchasing Office. Angelisa’s assistance is vital to assisting our office in fulfilling our role in procuring goods and services for the benefit of the System Office and the constituent institutions and affiliates of the University of North Carolina.

Round of Applause: Ruth Brill

Ruth always has time to help people. When I was a new employee Ruth went out of her way to help me get comfortable with the systems and space. She would follow up to see how things were going. I could always count on Ruth to have the information needed to do a task that I was unfamiliar with. She is an excellent asset to the System Office. Her quiet, caring, and generous spirit is always there every time I interact with her.

Round of Applause: Haijing Ma

Last Saturday night we had a campus whose production Banner was down. I called Haijing for help at just past midnight, and she stayed up with me all night long, finally getting production back up at 9am. What a great effort! What a great teammate!

Round of Applause: Tami Chargois

Tami joined the System Office in January, and quickly became a trusted and knowledgeable partner for Advancement, HR and IT. We all appreciate her attention to detail and cat-herding prowess, but we are especially buoyed by her positive spirit and it’s a joy to work with her each day.

Round of Applause: Nancy Halley

Nancy has been a tremendous help to the marketing efforts of our UNC System Learning and Technology Symposium (April 13-14). Since we began planning this event back in August 2022, Nancy has been very responsive to every request for help with our web presence and keeping it updated regularly, social media marketing content for attendees to use, and has created beautiful digital and print poster materials. She has also included our event in the monthly System newsletter and helped us promote via social media channels too. She always responds quickly and cheerfully and has been a huge asset to the planning committee’s work.

Round of Applause: Renee Barger

Renee joined our team a few months ago and has already proven to be such an excellent addition. I am especially appreciative of her as a thought partner for operationalizing research ideas and data questions. She is always open to talking something through which is so helpful! I really value her suggestions and insight.

Round of Applause: Mark Walter

Mark Walter is a tremendous resource for our campuses. Mark is a DBA with the Banner Hosting team and he provides such valuable expertise – both from a technical role but also from a leadership perspective. He is always willing to get involved and help see issues through to their resolution. The most recent case of this was when NCCU had an issue with an ancillary application. He was able to step in quickly and aid in troubleshooting and resolving the issue to get the system functional again.

Nominated by Aaron Meyer

Round of Applause: Terry Mayer

Terry recently bowled a 300, i.e. a perfect game! They raised a banner for him at the bowling alley he frequents!

Round of Applause: Blake Selinsky

Blake unselfishly shared his time and expertise when I hit a road block during a project I was working on for ECSU to improve their academic standing rules in Banner. Blake willingly jumped in and adjusted a baseline job submission process that calculates GPA to point to transfer credit instead of residential credit so that a GPA could be calculated on transfer credit. This adjustment automated moving transfer credits to count in attempted hours. This automation saved countless hours of manual data entry. The long term effect is improved customer service administering academic standing to students leading to student success. Blake is my hero.
