The collection of HR resource dashboards available via Insight and previously titled “CHRO Dashboards” are now titled “HR Analytics Dashboards.” This post contains important information about the System Office collection of HR analytics dashboards, including permissions and access for leaders at your institution, and workshop information about the newest dashboard.
Dashboard Access
The list of users engaging with recent “CHRO Dashboards” has expanded beyond just CHROs, and so we have changed the name of the collection to HR Analytics Dashboards. The collection is available here.
The collection currently includes the Personnel Cap, Vacant Positions, Turnover Metrics, and the new Workforce Ratio Dashboard. Access to these dashboards is limited to select users at each institution. In contrast, some dashboards, like the HR Factbook, are available to all UNC System Insight users.
We have received many requests for access to these dashboards from different institution departments. While we will occasionally grant access in special circumstances, we ask that the CHRO of each institution generally be the point person for making requests on behalf of other users. If you would like to give dashboard-granting authority to one designee within your HR office, please send an email to hrdm@northcarolina.edu. If you or your designee would like to give others at your institution access to the dashboards, please email hrdm@northcarolina.edu with their names, titles, and email addresses. Note: Users granted access to one dashboard in the HR Analytics Dashboards folder will be granted access to all dashboards in the HR Analytics Dashboards collection.
Users must have an Insight account in order to be granted access to the dashboards. Staff who encounter the message “Unable to Sign In – User account not found” when accessing a dashboard do not have an Insight account. Insight administrators at your institution (often IR or IT staff) can create an account for a user. Once this is done, System Office staff can grant access to the dashboards.
New Workforce Ratio Dashboard
We will host 3 brief lunch-and-learn workshops in November to demo features within the Workforce Ratio Dashboard. Please share with your HRIS or HR data analytics staff and any interested dashboard users!

The Workforce Ratio Dashboard contains information about permanent, active employees. Data goes back to July 2017. These metrics are intended to help you explore how headcounts and salary expenditure by job function have changed over time, and include metrics on credit hour production as well. The dashboard will be updated on the second Tuesday of each month.
The attached document titled ‘SAS Logic Summary – Workforce Ratio Dashboard’ is a technical document describing the coding logic used to create the dataset that supplies the dashboard.
The ‘About the Dashboard’ page on the dashboard provides information about data sources and calculations. The source of data in the dashboards comes from data submissions your institution sends to the System Office HR Data Mart on a monthly basis. Minimal cleaning is done before the data are loaded into the dashboards.
