As of Sept. 1, 2023, the University moved to TIAA as the single recordkeeper for the UNC System retirement plans. Employees with a balance in one or more of the UNC System retirement plans (Optional Retirement Program, UNC 457(b), UNC 403(b) plans) will receive detailed transition information at their home address via US Mail in late January. The University of North Carolina offers a voluntary 457(b) retirement plan. TIAA is the only vendor approved to manage the UNC retirement plans’ investment products. For more information about TIAA or their products, including investment options, services, and fees, you should review the information on this website or contact a company representative. Enrollment Process

Complete the Deferral Agreement form, print a copy, sign it, and send it to your institution’s HR/Benefits office.

Remember, you must submit the completed form to your institution’s HR/Benefits office before any contributions can be accepted into your account.

You can enroll in the program and select investments through TIAA (click the link, select your UNC institution and then ENROLL NOW)
